Saturday was a "full" day. HuiChing and her sister came all the way to my place, to have breakfast before heading to KLCC for its Pc Fair. Instead of driving, the 3 of us decided that it would be wise to take the LRT but, we were wrong. I don't know why, but perhaps I haven't been taking the public transportation for quite some time, I realized that the journey from Kelana Jaya to KLCC can be painful, with the restrained ventilation and it seem that most people were heading to the same destination as we were. When we arrived in KLCC, the first thing we saw was the amount of people walking towards the entrance. We, on the other hand, quickly queued up to get the return tickets, to avoid the congestion later when we head home.
It has been some time since I went to KLCC. I remember when I was doing my internship in KL, we would often drop by occasionally for dinner since most of us were working around the KLCC area. Ever since I started working, I didn't even have the time to go near the KL area, since weekend would always be jam-packed, and none of us would want to spend our weekends sardined with people. And not forgetting, most UTPians work for Petronas which means their HQ is in the KLCC towers and no one, NO ONE would want to go back to their offices even on weekends!
PcFair was as usual, crowded with tech savvy, geeky people; all wanting to get the best deals. I saw a lot of things which I would kill myself for not having to save enough to get them now, and regretted for not being able to apply for credit card yet. I went through the whole cycle TWICE, because you know how indecisive girls are, right? We bumped into a couple of people, friends and acquaintances. I only managed to purchase 'small-small items'. At the end of the day, we couldn't feel our legs, with the amount of walking that was done. For dinner, the 3 of us had Chilli's for dinner, which we had to wait for 45 minutes before being noticed by the (I think Store Manager) to seat us at our table. During the waiting period, we witnessed some customers who were downright rude to the host, who thought that the waiting list was a reservation list, and those who just smiled and said, "It's okay, I have money, I can eat anywhere I want" to the host, which left everyone who heard those words, flabbergasted.
I initially pitied the waiter who got lashing on the tongue by one of the 'datin's'.
(Disclaimer: I am not sure if the woman was a Datin, but the way she carried herself and talked, gave such an aura that we felt that we should label her as 'Datin' to ease the story-telling. This is by no means of disrespecting any Datins in this country or any other country for that matter.)
I would always remember what the 'Datin' said to the manager.
"You said that I would be seated in 30 minutes, so now it's already passed 30 minutes. And why am I still standing here??" This was all said, in such poise and with all hand movements. Well, at least it provided me entertainment while waiting for my table.
Then after my lamb shoulder came, I couldn't finished the whole plate, because of the meat texture and the fat contents, which I didn't experience throughout the times I visited Chilli's. So when the bill came, I politely told the waiter that the lamb shoulder was not good this time and I couldn't finish it. Well, with me saying that, I didn't expect any form of return, in terms of discounts or another plate of lamb shoulder. All I wanted to do was to give feedback on my food so that the person in charge would take note. The waiter took my plate, and said he would show the manager. And next, before I know it, the manager came back to me, with my plate of unfinished scraps, asked me what my problem was, in a (I believe!) high tone. I knew that he just had a hard time with the 'Datin', so I quickly say that the meat isn't that good, and there's not much meat. He then told me, "So, do you want me to change a new plate for you?", and I SWEAR, HE SOUNDED LIKE HE WAS THREATENING ME!.. I felt intimidated then, as if it was my fault that I made a comment about my dish. So I told him, I didn't mean to complain, and in fact, it wasn't even a complain. It was just a comment. Well, a negative comment, but nevertheless, I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. And you know what, the bugger then intimidated me (again!), told me that if I want a new dish, he can easily change a new one for me.
Eh, hello. You tak boleh faham English ke??
So I told him that it's okay and just bring the bill.
Hello, Chilli's not cheap one okay. I paid, and thus I expect good food, good service. I know it's a weekend and the crowd is bad. But that doesn't mean you can be all defensive and 'intimidate' me. Hmmph.
and today, I came across this article. Okay, I'm going to boycott Steven's Corner.
Went to Kepong this morning, with mum and relatives, for breakfast. And I did what I do best on Sunday.
Polish my culinary skills, though I have a girlfriend who does the cooking for me. :)
Check out the sunny side-up! and I love how my bacon is cooked to crisp.
and to balance all the meat and protein, I would always prefer the garden salad, topped with the Japanese Sesame Salad Oil. I know, not much cooking this week, but then, we can't always have too complex food all the time. Hehhe.
No, it's not the 100th day today, but I love how this picture turned out after some tweaking done.
